“Future Training” by the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce – nominated and won!
In November 2025, the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce recognized the special commitment of training companies and trainers. Our training coordinator Martina Hofer KD nominated in the category of training commitment on behalf of the KD team.
We are incredibly happy because 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘇 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗻
We support our young talents in seven apprenticeship professions and at various locations. With a lot of heart, reliability, and a genuine eye for people, we create moments that bring training to life, whether as training ambassadors, energy scouts, at trade fair appearances, in training films, on social days, or through international experiences.
This award not only recognizes Martina's outstanding commitment, but also stands for the high quality of our training as a whole, supported by all KD trainers who stand by our young talent every day with commitment, patience, and passion.

Become your own captain!
Good career opportunities await our trainees. For around 15 years, we have taken on our trainees if they so wish.
From ship's boy to captain
One of the former ship's boys is now the captain of the MS RheinEnergie. Patrick Gereke started at KD as a 17-year-old. He was a sailor, bosun, skipper and has been captain on Europe's leading event ship since 2018. Now he is training himself!
