Introduction
The inland waterway tourism industry faces the challenge of improving its environmental footprint. Monitoring our environmental impact is crucial in order to take targeted measures to reduce it. The rivers and waterways we navigate are valuable natural resources, so we are committed to promoting sustainable practices. Our focus is on implementing environmentally responsible measures to promote sustainable development in inland navigation and maintain environmental integrity. In this context, we have set ourselves ambitious goals in the following three key areas. The creation of a central environmental management system will help us to develop overarching solutions and processes and to systematically track and manage the achievement of the goals we have set ourselves using environmental indicators.
One third of our event fleet has been awarded the Green Award Gold and Silver – a distinction that demonstrates our commitment beyond the legal requirements.
We are pursuing the goal of significantly reducing our direct Scope 1 emissions by expanding our shore power infrastructure, purchasing green electricity, using state-of-the-art drive technologies, switching to hybrid drives and utilizing available renewable energy potential.
Both on board and ashore, we are committed to an effective waste concept in order to dispose of waste efficiently and reduce the amount of waste generated
