There is no standing still at Köln-Düsseldorfer Deutsche Rheinschiffahrt GmbH. With MS Jules Verne, the company has added a new ship to its fleet with modern flair and exclusive functionality, making it even more efficient and flexible. The youngest member of the KD is named after the French author Jules Verne, who lived from 1828 to 1905. His best-known works include the novels "Journey to the Center of the Earth", "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and "Around the World in 80 Days".

With its futuristic design, striking lines and impressive glass facades, the event ship is an absolute eye-catcher on the water. The main deck is equipped with modern surround sound technology, atmospheric lighting and a stylish lounge ambience. Weather permitting, the open-air deck offers space for relaxed meetings, interesting gatherings or dignified receptions in the open air. These advantages make the MS Jules Verne a special location for charter cruises. The Köln-Düsseldorfer offer scores with its convincing variety.

Tailor-made offers

The KD Event Team offers a tailor-made package for every event. From the initial idea through to implementation, always in close consultation with the customer. This applies equally to Christmas or company celebrations, business events, company anniversaries, gala dinners or private parties. The catering concepts, which are tailored to the customer's wishes, are also individual. Sophisticated buffets are just as possible as live cooking and multi-course menus. MS Jules Verne is almost 76 meters long and 9.60 meters wide. It offers 800 square meters of space for a maximum of 600 people; the recommended number of passengers is 150 to 300.

New event location in Frankfurt

MS Jules Verne will primarily be used for charter trips on the Rhine between Duisburg and Mainz and on the Main in Frankfurt. "We are delighted to finally have such a modern and suitable event ship for a cosmopolitan city like Frankfurt," says Andreas Albani, Director of Events at KD.

Dinner Moments

In addition to charter operations, KD also organizes its own exclusive KD events on board. The first official deployment will be an evening cruise as part of the "Rhine in Flames in Bonn" event on the first weekend in May, where MS Jules Verne and MS RheinMagie will be part of the convoy of ships that will form up in the Siebengebirge and then sail towards Bonn. Under the heading "Dinner Moment Special", guests will be treated to Japanese fireworks as part of the Culture and Encounter Festival in Düsseldorf. "Dinner Moment" is a new culinary offer that stages real moments of pleasure on board the MS Jules Verne. The evenings with a seasonal 4-course menu plus aperitif and optional wine accompaniment with wines from KD winegrowers Lisa Bunn and Tobias Rickes are offered on selected dates in Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf.

Top wines from the region

The selection comes from winemaker Lisa Bunn, whose winery is located in the heart of Rheinhessen. "We attach particular importance to treating nature with respect and carefully developing our wines," says the likeable winemaker, who already presented her wines on board the KD Moment in 2024, among others.

Tobias Rickes' winery is located in Bad Kreuznach/Winzenheim. "The vineyards I cultivate stretch from Bad Kreuznach to the Guldenbach and Gräfenbach valleys. This results in a broad spectrum of climatic differences that allow me to bring out the special features of the entire natural environment in my region," explains Tobias Rickes. He is also no stranger to the KD ships. His wines are extremely popular with guests.

The "Cologne Lights" return

After a break of several years, the "Kölner Lichter" will take place again on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Köln-Düsseldorfer will be deploying a total of seven ships for this top-class event: MS RheinMagie, MS RheinFantasie, MS RheinGalaxie, MS Jules Verne, MS RheinVision, MS RheinHarmonie and MS Willi Ostermann. The MS Petersberg from KD s partner shipping company Pilger in Bonn is also on board and can be booked via KD .
