Assmannshausen

Assmannshausen lies below the rocky reefs of the Binger Loch, where the most romantic part of the Rhine River and thus the "Upper Middle Rhine Valley" World Heritage Site begins.

The red wine village is surrounded by vineyards that produce the best German red wine in the Höllenberg, Frankenthal and Hinterkirch vineyards. The old Faitzburg, now known as Rheinstein Castle, towers opposite, as if growing out of the rock.

A cable car takes you up to the hunting lodge in Niederwald, where there are wonderful hiking trails, for example to the Niederwald monument.
