Rhine in Flames

Between May and September, boats flood the river taking people to see ‘The Rhine in Flames’ – a spectacular display of pyrotechnics.

Fireworks burst from the castles and multiply as they reflect on the water. The boats look like they are floating in a sea of technicolor flames. People come from miles to experience it.

The spectacle has become so popular that you’ll have to book early to get tickets, even although there are five events at five different locations on different dates.

If you miss it, you could always join the harvest festivals held in most of the wine-growing towns in September, when autumn sets in and the vineyards turn red and gold.
