Assmannshausen

Assmannshausen lies below the rocky reefs of the Binger Loch, where the most romantic part of the Rhine and thus the World Heritage Site “Upper Middle Rhine Valley” begins.
The red wine village is surrounded by vineyards that produce the best German red wine in the Höllenberg, Frankenthal and Hinterkirch vineyards. The old Faitzburg castle, now known as Rheinstein Castle, towers opposite, as if growing out of the rock.
A cable car leads up to the hunting lodge in the Niederwald forest, where wonderful hiking trails invite you to visit the Niederwald monument, for example.
