Top chefs invite you to dine

On the dinner cruises aboard the KD event boats, surprising menu compositions await guests in Cologne and Düsseldorf. Please take a seat on the Köln-Düsseldorfer Rheinschifffahrt dinner cruises and switch into indulgence mode. Top-notch chefs from the local region will be demonstrating their individual class once again. Their four-course meals always guarantee unique taste sensations. Wine pairing can be ordered on request. The creations are also a feast for the eyes. Each course is artfully and attractively arranged in the galley and served at the table by friendly KD service staff. The evenings are designed to allow enough time for the guests and chefs to talk to each other.

Cool products from the Sauerland

Olaf Baumeister is the official North Rhine-Westphalia gourmet ambassador for the Sauerland. The passionate chef tirelessly brings the world of great culinary pleasures to the Hotel Seegarten in Sundern in the Sauerland. He will be going from there to Cologne on 24th November. “We are looking forward to the dinner cruise on board the KD event liner very much. This is always a special evening for us. Partly because we can present the fantastic regional specialities from the Sauerland and prepare them in a modern way. We’re bringing some really cool products again,” the top chef says, excited about the event. There will be game from the local region and definitely fish. “The Sauerland is rich in fish, and it’s incredibly good quality.” Olaf Baumeister celebrates the unique features of the region with a huge amount of commitment, creativity and charisma. His fans appreciate this.

Ginger ice cream for dessert

When French classics meet the fascinating world of flavours from India, Jaspreet Dhaliwal-Wilmes is not far away. Visitors can experience his special compositions in the restaurant “Der Vierte König”, which the likeable top chef opened in Cologne in 2017. His artful creations can be enjoyed on the KD dinner cruise on 7th December. Ginger plays a central role in the special menu. To start, guinea fowl galantine will be served with Indian lentil salad, ginger and tomato jam and wild herb salad. This is followed by cappuccino of braised root vegetables with braised veal cheeks, and, for the main course, cod served on a fenugreek sauce with scampi and bean ragout and orange-pumpkin puree. Ginger also plays an important role in the dessert. The chocolate tartlets are accompanied by ginger plums, ginger spirit ice cream and mahonia sauce.

In Düsseldorf, Michelin-starred chef Holger Berens provides a culinary experience on board. The North Rhine-Westphalia gourmet ambassador for Düsseldorf has been running his restaurant “Berens am Kai” in Düsseldorf’s MedienHafen port since 1998. Since then, he has been delighting his guests with mainly French and Mediterranean menu creations. For the KD dinner cruise on 18th November, he will be switching from the quay to the boat for a few hours.
