Rhine in Flames Koblenz

Since 1956, the summer night sky has shone in bright colours once a year: Bengal flares and fireworks immerse the Middle Rhine Valley in a romantic light on the second Saturday in August.

The largest procession of boats in Europe winds its way past the villages of Spay, Brey, Rhens, Braubach and Lahnstein to Koblenz. On board as many as 70 boats, there is room for around 25.000 passengers to enjoy the 17 km stretch of river, with its spectacularly illuminated banks, to watch the fantastic firework display from the water.
