Hotel ship "KD Moment" - a permanent fixture in the event cruise sector

New routes in the program

With MS KD Moment, Köln-Düsseldorfer Deutsche Rheinschiffahrt GmbH has a modern premium-class hotel ship at its disposal. The ship was built in 2008 and extensively modernized in 2022 and 2024. It has been part of the Köln-Düsseldorfer fleet since April 2024. In 2025, the KD will present an extensive program with departures from Cologne or Düsseldorf.

One year after the launch of the KD Moment, Sales Director Marion Trapp is very satisfied with the development of the new hotel ship. "Within a year, the KD Moment has established itself as a permanent fixture in the event cruise sector and delights its guests
with varied voyages and first-class service. With 86 guest cabins, a first-class catering offer,
conference technology and entertainment on board, the premium-class hotel ship offers the ideal setting for many different applications," emphasizes Sales Director Marion Trapp.

In addition to the popular event cruises, the ship is regularly used as a horizontal hotel ship for international trade fairs in Cologne, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt. A major advantage is the ship's central location to the trade fair venues. The KD Moment is also an interesting location for corporate customers, for example for meetings and incentives.

Cruise program 2025

A glance at the new KD brochure shows that this year, too, the focus is on many exciting destinations and topics. In June and September, for example, KD is taking its guests on the "Beach Moments" from Düsseldorf to Zaandam in the Netherlands and back. The focus is on a relaxed beach atmosphere and maritime experiences. On the "Party Moments", party-goers can get to know the vibrant nightlife and cultural sights in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. The "Party Moments" from Cologne take you along the Middle Rhine to Rüdesheim and back - the hits of the 80s and 90s ensure a good atmosphere on board, true to the motto "Back to the Future". Wine lovers will get their money's worth on the "Legendary Moments". The 3-day tours from Cologne focus on the wine festivals in Boppard and Rüdesheim. A 4-day trip to Bernkastel-Kues on the Moselle takes place over Easter. Real "city moments" are the order of the day on the city trips to the major cities of the Netherlands - Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

Premium hotel ship KD Moment

MS KD Moment is 135 meters long and offers a high-quality and stylish ambience on three passenger decks. All cabins on Deck Two and Deck Three have a private balcony with seating and retractable panoramic windows. In addition to a shower, the suites also have a bathtub. In the Grand Suites there is also a cozy seating area for even more comfort. The cabins on Deck One have a panoramic window that cannot be opened instead of a balcony. Guests will find the usual high KD standard on board. The "Docks" bar/lounge, the "1826" restaurant and the cabins are comfortably furnished. An experienced event concept, outstanding gastronomic offerings and high hygiene and safety standards ensure a good atmosphere and positive feedback from guests.

History: KD river cruises

Until the end of the 1990s, KD itself was a successful provider of river cruises with its own hotel ships. KD is even considered the inventor of river cruises and built the very first cabin ship, the MS Europa, in 1960. Due to a realignment of the Group, this branch was sold in 2000. KD has been active in the hotel ship business again since 2018, primarily by providing hotel ships for international trade fairs. In 2022, KD offered event cruises on the chartered hotel ship MS Swiss Crystal for the first time.
