Our new bus and ship day trip from Cologne is all about the ancient Romans. First you travel by bus to Bad Hönningen. After you’ve had lunch in the New Rhine Terrace restaurant we’ll show you the interactive Roman Wall Museum in the “Roman World at Caput Limitis”. This is hands-on history, told with the help of mutimedia presentations and using interactive stations. The journey back to Cologne is by ship and features a portion of tasty Bergisch waffles with hot cherries.
Included: transfer by bus from Cologne, lunch, entrance to Roman Wall Museum with guided tour, KD river cruise from Bad Hönningen to Cologne (arriving 20:00), waffles with hot cherries and a cup of coffee on board.

THE IDEA
You buy a KD ticket to Königswinter at the regular price. Later, on board, you can decide spontaneously whether you actually disembark in Königswinter or whether you feel more like staying on the ship and sailing to Bad Honnef, Unkel, Remagen, Linz or Bad Hönningen. And the best thing is that you don’t have to pay any additional charge! You can save up to EURO 11.20 and can choose from all the KD landing stages in the Siebengebirge Mountains.

THE KD RING TICKET
AROUND THE NIEDERWALD MEMORIAL
For the best impression of the beautiful scenery around Rüdesheim we recommend our popular Ring Ticket around the Niederwald Memorial. During a leisurely dayout you can enjoy wonderful views from the furnicular railway, the chair lift, and of course from the KD ship.
YOU’RE AT THE HELM
For instance you can start the tour in Rüdesheim with a 10 minute ascent with the furnicular railway up to the Niederwald. From there you have a lovely walk (about 1 hour) up by the famous Niederwald Monument, along peaceful hillside paths with glorious views, to the hunting lodge and game park. From there a chair lift brings you back down through the woods and over steep vineyards to Assmannshausen. You cruise back then on a KD ship to Rüdesheim in 45 minutes (departures at 12:30, 14:30, 16:30, 17:30 and 19:30 hrs).
There are many ways of combining these elements and indeed you can start and finish your tour in Rüdesheim, Bingen or Assmannshausen. The complete KD timetable is to be found on "Scheduled cruises".
