A new superlative on the Rhine

Since entering service in June 2004 KD's impressive new event ship MS RheinEnergie has really been making waves. Innovative, trendsetting and futuristic - this magnificent catamaran surpasses every perception of a traditional ship. MS RheinEnergie is unique in Europe, setting new standards and creating unforeseen possibilities for events. MS RheinEnergie is a milestone in the 179 year history of KD and has enabled the company not only to strengthen its position as market leader on the Rhine, but also to measure up to the changing requirements of its customers.   From the nostalgic paddle steamer GOETHE to that unique, ultramodern event ship - KD has by far the most versatile and high-performance fleet.  

In its first few months of service, the catamaran has already become the most sought after location for large events on the Rhine. With a total length of 90.3m and a breadth of 19.3m, the ship has three decks plus a generously sized sundeck with children's play area. Focal point of the vessel's interior is the centrally positioned 35 m² stage, which fulfils every requirement for professional entertainment. Seated on two levels, the main deck and a gallery on the upper deck, nearly 1,000 guests have an uninterrupted view of the stage. The ship can accommodate between 400 and 1,680 guests for any kind of event. There is a sophisticated lighting and sound system as well the most up to date projection equipment.  

With the new vessel the Köln-Düsseldorfer has added a completely new dimension to the event business. A unique location, the new, fully air-conditioned event ship offers not only excellent possibilities for stage presentations, but combines that with the experience of a cruise on the river. The list of events which thus gain a hitherto unknown quality is endless: carnival sessions, concerts, annual general meetings, company celebrations, product presentations. Even presenting a car on the main deck or sundeck is not a problem.  
 
Furthermore, the ship will of course also be in service on scheduled cruises between Cologne and Mainz. But KD has successfully negotiated the tightrope-walk between event ship and cruise ship, commissioning a vessel which also sets new standards for passenger cruising. Even in the best of weather there will be enough room for everyone on the 1,260 m² sundeck, which is protected by a large awning. And then there is the generously proportioned children's play area, with a slide, a small carousel and other equipment. KD now even has deck-chairs available for hire on the sundeck - a leisure-time paradise for large and small!  

On the main and upper decks countless panorama windows invite passengers to enjoy the Rhine scenery from what could be described as a ?balcony seat". The observation lounge at the front of the ship will certainly also become a favourite place to sit. And of course MS RheinEnergie has disabled access, with a lift to all decks. Cyclists will find that the cycle-racks offer plenty of space. On the lower deck there is a modern kitchen, fitted out with all the latest equipment. There, the ship's chefs can prepare anything from an à la carte meal to a gala buffet.  

An absolute highlight is the fantastic theatre restaurant Ganymée on Water on board MS RheinEnergie. After its amazing success the spectacular dinner show will return to the major cities on the Rhine, of course with a new and exclusive 4 course menu, specially created by one of Europe's top chefs, and with a completely new show programme.
